INKTOBER: THE WRAP UP!

As of this writing it is November 1st. Inktober has come and gone and I had a blast every step of the way. Below you'll find my latest batch but before that I'd like to tell you what I've got planned for November.

Since I'm not aware of any challenges, I'll be scaling back the visual pumping up my writing muscles in this year's NanoWrimo event. I recently lost a friend and fellow creator and while we weren't all that close, I was aware of her situation and the weight of absence in friends list and timeline is keenly felt (her posts always made me laugh). In this wise I have chosen to dedicate the entirety of this undertaking to her memory and to her girlfriend and children. (They may never read this, but I continue to morn with them)

As far as art, it's like I said, I'm scaling it back a tad. Any visual work will be focused on my web comic Fight Life, which available for viewing on patreon every week for the low price of $5 bucks a month. As always I will have slots open for commissions.

Intober/Drawlloween Week 1

It’s that time of year!  I’m now in my fourth year of Inktober and my second year of Drawlloween (where the drawings are Halloween or horror themed).  Because my hours have been reduced I’ve had an opportunity to ramp up my output but it’s turning out to be a double-edge sword; if this keeps up and I’m not able to find a second job, I will likely be homeless or without power by next month.  I honestly don’t know what to do except what I’ve been doing: Bringing the heat in every drawing I put down hoping my viewers feel the burn and throws a few bucks my way.

Missing in Action

I owe you guys an apology for staying gone and being so inconsistent, but in my defense it’s been an OBSCENELY long summer for me. Not to mention highly STRESSFUL, and while I’ve managed to be some kind of productive the past few months have been a bear…an enormous, rabid, rage-fueled Kodiak bear. The heat was unbearable and I came perilously close to losing my job. In recent news, I’ve relaunched my web comic “FIGHT LIFE” via the website Patreon. You can enjoy the weekly strip by becoming my patron with a donation of $5 (five dollars) a month.

My life as a gamer has been revive thanks to Pokemon Go. The Pokemon franchise has become quite resurgent, so much in fact that it couldn’t resist digging out my old Gameboy Advance and popping in Pokemon Blue (a game I’ve had for over 16 years now!) The result: The several Pokemon drawings you see below. Really enjoyed making those!

With fall officially here (meaning September is half over) Halloween and some of our other favorite holidays are right around the corner, and so I’ve decided to get a head start on my holiday themed art and get them ready for sale on Etsy. You can also request a commission through the aforementioned Patreon as was as all of my social media links. I’ll be doing traditional Halloween themes as well as a few of my favorite urban legends and movie monsters. Heck man, I might even bang out a few Scooby-Doo pieces. Stick around, and hopefully I’ll find time to write again.

Throwback Thursday/Pokemon

Pokemon Go has become so huge that it's dredged up a lot of nostalgia.  I've not only start playing my old Gameboy version (which I've had since I was 16), but I remember a fan comic I did shortly after graduation. Aside from my friends who were featured characters, this bit never saw the light of day.  In honor of Throwback Thursday and the apparent resurgence of Pokemon's popularity, I thought I'd throw this baby up and show all three of my loyal readers how far I've come since then.

Gotta catch'em all!

Disclaimer:  I do not repeat DO NOT own the name Pokemon.  The characters here were created by me soley for entertainment purposes.  Seriously, this was done strictly for fun.  I've got enough problems without Nintendo suing my ass.

Hope you guys enjoyed this!

Sunday morning sketch video of Nymeria Sand

I had only seen the Sand Snakes during their introductory scene in season 4.  Safe to say I was fascinated by all three characters.  I've got some catching up to do on GoT (No spoilers!).

Looking through the bin #4

Another of my favorites is Ol' Silas Burr AKA Cyber (I see what you did there Marvel). His power wasn't anything to write home about, he was basically a psychic bloodhound; he could track your track you down by scanning your brainwave patterns.

What is made him stand his look (He was designed by Sam Keith for Marvel Comics Presents 85-85), this dude looked like the psychotic love child of Colossus and the Tick. What's even more interesting is that he's one of the few characters, if not the only character, to best Wolverine in combat, to the point where Wolverine was actually afraid of him for a while. Honestly think the way they killed him off was lame (Wolverine 96). Even as a ten-year-old I feel like he had a lot of potential.

Looking Through the bin #3

Been a while since I've done one of these posts. No books this go round, just touching on a unique character. I think I'll do more like this.

Guido Carosella aka Strong guy from X-Factor. He’s one the many mutants from the 90’s who has since faded into the white noise of the Marvel Universe (don’t know if they killed him off or what). His power was always one of my favorites. He could absorb kinetic energy (collisions, explosions etc.) and turn it into raw physical power.

Despite allowing him to compete with powerhouses like The Hulk and The Thing, Strong Guy's mutant ability was very much a double edged sword in that it warped his physique to where his upper body was disproportionately enlarged. This condition placed a constant agonizing stress on his body, to the point where he suffered a heart attack or two.

A little poetry

I don't write as often as I used to (and it's down right criminal the way I've been neglecting this blog), but I got the bug this weekend.  Only two that made the cut...

 Sweetheart
You smelled nice, the artificial, chemical kind of nice. Shampoo with just a dash of perfume.
Just enough to get my attention and keep it.
I'll never know how you tasted but for a while when I tasted other women on my tongue,
I would think to myself you must have been that much sweeter.
I remember your hands holding mine, and the way your forehead felt on my lips.

I miss the happy fool I was.

Phone Sex
She can feel me now.
She’s soft, warm, smooth all over.
She says it’s my voice.

Stuff going on...

Not sure if I have any followers left but thanks for the click all the same! The day job is starting run me into the ground (it's the holiday season and if you work retail, you KNOW what I'm talking about.)

Before I type another word I am giving a HUUUGE shout out to friend and fellow alumnus Vicki aka @ZombieEatHearts. Her work will be featured in Fifty/50, Durham’s Edgiest Pop-up Art Shop (Not gonna post images to avoid whatever copyright vultures might be waiting to swoop down). But check out her online store right here!

Well on with it:

Inktober's come and gone and with it seemingly my motivation. The holiday season is here, (They just skipped right over Thanksgiving) and we're setting things up for Xmas so Santa's (coughmom&dad) job can be a little easier. Not only that, but I my brushpens and markers are DANGEROUSLY close to E, Making the digital side of things more of a necessity. Over the past few months I've become more comfortable and I like to think I'm somewhere in the vicinity of competent.

I realized I haven't done any sequential pages in VERY long time; not since my collaboration with Ray Zepeda on Anti-Hero 113. I'm starting to get that itch and I've been tinkering with the plot line for my Fight Life comic as well as some plots and character designs for a one or two short stories. So much stuff ping-ponging through my brain and nowhere near enough time to focus on...focusing.

I'm gonna stop all the ranting now and show off my latest.
